Did you know you make hundreds of decisions everyday from the minute you wake up. Any activity you do is a decision made and a choice to act on it.

Should I scroll reels or shorts?

Should I check messages on whatsapp and reply back?

Should I go to the gym today or skip it?

What breakfast do I make?

What should I wear today?

When should I sleep today?

These are just some basic examples. Now imagine the number of choices you make in your daily life! If you are a parent, you’re not just deciding for yourself but for your little human too.

And in between all this, you feed more and more information to the brain by scrolling reels, shorts, videos, news!!

The brain is tired just in the first hour of waking up because our brain isn’t designed to constantly switch, process, and decide at this pace. Any decision, big or small, invloves the same amount of energy and effort for the brain, it doesnt know to categorize.

I have been feeling like this lately and I realized my exhaustion and tiredness was a result of all the decisions I had to make right from the minute I wake up. When I tried to understand this deeper, I came across something called decision fatigue, the idea that the more decisions we make, our ability to make good and important decisions becomes worse.

That’s why many successful people simplify the small things. They repeat outfits, stick to the same meals, follow fixed routines. Not because they lack options but because they’re protecting their mental energy for what truly matters.

And that changed the way I look at my day. I realized maybe the goal isn’t to do more. Maybe it’s to decide less.

One of the simplest ways to do that is automation.

You know how we pay EMIs where you set it once, and it happens automatically every month. What if we did the same with our daily decisions? You need to plan once and free up your mind so that it can just flow.

Here are 4 simple ways you can start reducing decision fatigue today:

  1. Fix your mornings: Decide your breakfast, outfit, and first task the night before. Mornings become calmer instantly.

  2. Create “default choices”: Have go-to meals, outfits, and routines so that even on busy days you know what works without too much chaos.

  3. Limit input early in the day: Avoid reels, news, and social media for the first and last hour. Give your brain space before it starts consuming and while it needs to calm down before sleeping.

  4. Batch your decisions: Plan your week’s meals, workouts, tasks in one sitting. You can spend time for one decision session instead of 50 scattered ones.

Your energy is limited. Protect it and use it where it truly matters🖤
